Why I don't like Mondays

I promised myself that I would devote Mondays and Thursdays to blogging as an attempt to make it more natural, ie - more of a habit.  Why on earth did I pick Mondays????  I sort of hate Mondays.  I love my work, I love what I do, so its curious that I have always disliked Mondays - ever since I started in sales.

I think I know why - everyone is in a bad mood.  Prospects, clients, purchasing, buyers, etc are all in a post-weekend hangover (even more severe in the Summer.)  The very reasons why Fridays are so great for sales calls, is exactly why Mondays are so lousy.

So - my cure:  I rarely schedule external calls on Mondays.  I am in a bad mood, and so are many customers. I would rather spend my Mondays planning out my week - doing account research and planning, goal setting, and proposal writing. Productive things that keeps me off of the phones.  By Tuesday, I am energized, and ready to go.

Every workout schedule includes "on" days and "off" days.  Our sales schedule should do the same.

Happy Selling,

So glad to have a high level executive say it out loud! Now I don't feel like such a loser for procrastinating on those calls. I think I'll try your way and re-adjust how I go about my week. So many times you convince yourself that you have to start Monday off with a sprint, when maybe that's the day to warm-up.

Thanks!
