Happy Friday

As my friend in Baltimore just reminded me, if it wasn't for an errant helmet catch, New England would be the proud owner of 3 Championships this morning.  Nice time to live in Boston, and so I celebrated the city with an awesome morning run along the Charles.  How great is the iPod?  The perfect piece of technology - particularly for guys like me that spent their teens and twenties consumed by anything music - and wasted countless hours on reorganizing record collections and making mix tapes. (Think Nick Hornby's High Fidelity" - http://books.google.com/books?id=XVb4AAAACAAJ&dq=inauthor:Nick+inauthor:Hornby)

The best part of the iPod (if there is a "best") is being able to go from Thin Lizzy - to Hole - to Eric Burdon - to The Replacements - to .38 Special - all without missing a stride.  No question, running with music in your ears, along with vocal prompts from Nike+, definitely adds to the experience.

I think its important to stay motivated with all kinds of sensory stimuli - sights, sounds, textures, etc.  At Basho, we have a gong in the middle of the sales floor.  Whenever a deal closes, the gong gets rung - no matter how big or small the deal may be.  Yesterday, we had 3 gong rings, and it got everybody fired up.

Enjoy your Friday (the best cold calling day of the week!)

Happy Selling,

Jeff "Chief Basho"
